Top Ten Books I Want To Read This Summer

Top Ten Tuesday is weekly meme that is created by The Broke and The Bookish and hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

This week’s topic is Top Ten Tuesday :Books to Read By the Pool/At the Beach

Most books that fit the Summer theme are Contemporary books and I personally don’t enjoy that genre as much so I decided to do a different take on the topic and talk about the new releases I want to get to this summer (All Fantasy and Sci-Fi let’s be honest).

(Click on covers to add on Goodreads)

1. BRIGHT WE BURN by Kiersten white

I adore the first two books and Now I Rise is honestly my most favorite sequel so I just can’t wait to see what happens in this final installment. I know there’s going to be a lot pain and heartbreak, and I am not ready to let these characters go but I’m desperate to find out how their story ends.

2. THE BLACK GOD’S DRUMS by P. Djèlí Clark

I don;t know much about this book besides the fact that it is a Science Fiction with steampunk vibes. There’s Haitian folklore, African gods, and most of the characters are black. Honestly, I don’t need to know any more; I am already sold!

3. TRAIL OF LIGHTNING by Rebecca Roanhorse

I’ve probably mentioned this book too many times already, but it comes out in June and I am even more excited for it. If you didn’t know, this book is #OwnVoices Native American fantasy with Mad Max: Fury Road vibes.

This book sounds so amazing that I could cry. It’s a space opera with treasure hunting. It has an F/F romance with the enemies-to-lover trope and one of the main characters is a racer.

5. SPINNING SILVER by Naomi Novik

Most people know this author from her popular book: Uprooted. While I did enjoy that book, I admit I couldn’t get myself to finish it. The first half of it was vastly better than the second. Although, I absolutely adore her Temeraire series (with talking dragons) so I am excited for this book.

6. FOUNDRYSIDE by Robert Jackson Bennett

I haven’t read Bennett’s famous City of Stairs series, but I am a sucker for heist-related novels –evident from my obsessions with Six of Crows and The Lies of Locke Lamora– so as soon as I heard this centers around a thief and world of unique magic system I started obsessively waiting for its release.

7. CITY OF GHOSTS by V.E. Schwab

I have an odd relationship with V.E. Schwab’s books. I always rate them pretty high, but sometimes I feel like those 5 stars aren’t fully justified. I have yet to read Vicious but I feel like that could solidify my love for this author and I also believe that this book will offer another chance to see what I feel about her books.

8. TEMPER by Nicky Drayden

Two brothers.
Seven vices.
One demonic possession.
That is all I know about this book and yet I am beyond excited to read this book. I miraculously acquired an e-arc on Edelweiss so I will be getting to it soon!

9. EMPIRE OF SILENCE by Christopher Ruocchio

This book is an epic space opera that has been compared to The Name of the Wind several times. I’ve heard a lot of great things about it and there’s just something about an intricate sprawling world that intrigues me. Also, I received a physical copy of this book and I have no idea if the publishers sent it unsolicited or if I entered and won a giveaway I forgot about. I do know, though, that I want to read it soon.

10. KING OF ASSASSINS by R.J. Barker

I finished the second book just hours before and I am DESPERATE for this final installment. I have grown extremely attached to the main character and I need to find out how his story ends.

Have you read any of these books? Have them on your TBR list? Tell me which bookish worlds you would want to live in or avoid at all costs?? 😀
