Sunday Newbies #1: Fantasy Books to Look Forward to in 2018

I don’t know for sure if this is an already existing thing that was created by someone else in the book community, but I’ve decided to do this feature on my blog. ‘Sunday Newbies’ posts are posts in which I’ll discuss about some unreleased books that have amazing premises and that I believe deserve hype and attention.

There are too many awesome books slated to come out in 2018 and today, I’ve decided to feature three upcoming fantasy books that sound amazing:

1. Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse

Trail of Lightning is an #OwnVoices apocalyptic Native American fantasy that was pitched as “Indigenous Mad Max: Fury Road According to the author, it has a primary cast of Navajo characters and it all takes place on a Navajo reservation. It follows a supernaturally-gifted young girl as she hunts monsters in the wake of a climate apocalypse.

2. Lost Gods by Micah Yongo

Lost Gods is an #OwnVoices epic fantasy novel set in an African-inspired kingdom. It follows a teenaged assassin who gets framed for the murder of a friend and gets hunted down by his own brotherhood of assassins. As he fights to cover the truth behind the conspiracy, he comes to learn that the Brotherhood isn’t as it seems. There’s far more to the world.

3. The Thousand Deaths of Ardor Benn by Tyler Whitesides

The Thousand Deaths of Ardor Benn is a seemingly-fun fantasy about a thief/con-artist who is hired by a priest to steal the king’s crown, and assembles a team of “forgers, disguisers, schemers, and thieves” to carry out the heist. Unfortunately, there seems to be more at stake with this ruse as humanity’s last hope may lie in the hands of this band of thieves.

Do you have any of these books on your TBR list? Tell me which books you are most excited for 😀
